Wingset

FAQ

Good questions.

Everything people usually ask about Wingset. Can't find yours? It'll be here soon.

The basics

What is Wingset?

A dating app where your friends help you shine. You answer questions about yourself, your friends answer questions about you (or just say something nice), and you choose which answers go on your profile, with each friend's name beside their words.

Who is Wingset for?

Two kinds of people. Anyone who wants to meet someone, wherever they live and whatever they're looking for, and anyone who just wants to help a friend find someone. You say which when you sign up, and you can change it later.

Can I use it today?

Yes, on the web, in a browser on a computer. You can make a profile, add photos, answer questions about yourself, send friends your link so they can answer questions about you, set your search and try the feed. While Wingset is in early development the feed shows sample profiles, clearly labelled, so you can see how it works. Real members in the feed and chat come next.

Is there an app?

Wingset starts on the web, in a browser on a computer. The app itself isn't open in a phone's browser: if you try, you're sent to the Get the app page. On a computer, use the Website | App switch at the top of every page to move between these pages and the app. iPhone and Android apps come next.

Why do I have to confirm my email?

Other members can only see your profile once you've confirmed your email address. It's a quick check that the address really is yours, and it helps keep fake accounts out. We email you a link when you sign up, and you can send it again from Settings, Account.

Friends and answers

How many friends can I have?

As many as you like. You have one link that never runs out and never has a limit, and "Vouched for by 12 friends" is simply how many friends you have.

Do my friends need an account?

Yes, a short one. A friend opens your link, says how they know you, and signs up in about a minute: an email address, a name and a birthday, with no profile and no photos. They confirm their email so everyone on Wingset is a real person. A friend who is already on Wingset just opens your link and taps a button.

What can a friend do?

Answer questions about you, add a photo to an answer, say something without picking a question, like the answers they love, and suggest photos for your profile. There are no comment threads on answers, only likes, so it stays kind and simple.

Who sees what my friends write?

You and your friends see the whole feed. Everyone else only sees the answers you choose to put on your profile (up to six). Who liked what, and how many likes each answer got, is for you alone.

Can I change what a friend wrote?

No, and that's the point. You can show it, hide it or delete it, but you can't rewrite it, so people know it's real.

What if I'm only here to help a friend?

Choose "I'm here for a friend" when you sign up. You get the Friends side of Wingset (answering, liking, suggesting photos, and your own link) without a dating profile. Dating stays one tap away if you ever want it.

How do I share my link?

Right after you sign up, Wingset shows you your link with a message you can change, and buttons for email, text message, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, X, Bluesky and more, plus a QR code. Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and Discord don't allow sending from a website, so there you copy the message and paste it. Your link is always on your Profile page and under Friends, and Invite friends at the top is one tap away.

Money and safety

Is Wingset really free?

Yes. Making a profile, friends answering about you, matching, messaging and seeing who likes you are all free. A few paid extras, called Wingset Plus, are on the way: a weekly Swoop, Chirps, a wider search, more filters, Passport and Rewind. Right now Plus is a free preview: nothing is charged and no card is asked for. Extras like these will never make free profiles harder to find.

What's a Swoop?

A Swoop is Wingset's super like: a like that says you picked someone out, and it's marked and shows first on their Likes page. Everyone starts with one. Plus members get a new one every week, and they add up.

What's a Chirp?

A Chirp is a like with a few words, so someone hears from you before they decide. If you two like each other, your note is the first message in your chat. Everyone starts with one. Plus members get three new ones every week, and they add up.

How do I stay safe?

Take it slow, meet in public and tell a friend where you're going. The Safety center has more tips and help lines.

What are the House rules?

Five rules everyone agrees to when they sign up: be yourself, keep it kind, keep what you write about friends honest, stay safe and speak up.
